East Japan Earthquake Picture Project
Pictures you made could be unforgettable memories for all those hit by the disaster. They might be useful for disaster prevention a millennium ahead. In order not to lose pictures valuable for the future, please contribute to this project by letting us borrow one of your precious pictures.
Admissible Pictures
- Target Areas:
- Areas applying to the regional disaster relief act in Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima, Aomori, Ibaragi, Tochigi, Chiba, Nagano and Niigata Prefecture
- Expected Contents:

- Scenery or landscapes before the East Japan Earthquake
- Current situation in the affected areas
- Goods left behind in the affected areas
- Signs showing process of recovery

Purpose of this project
Pictures will be archived for the following purposes
- Record disaster's aftermath for future generations and research for disaster prevention
- Record situation, scenery and landscape before the earthquake
- Record signs of recovery of the affected areas
The purpose of this project is non-profit and non-commercial.
Pictures made open to the public may be utilized by third parties without approval of Yahoo Japan Corporation for non-profit reconstruction assistance and academic research.
Attentions regarding use of this service
East Japan Earthquake Picture Record Project Submission Guideline
- Submissions are limited to pictures in line with the project's purpose. Moreover, pictures may not contain any elements of advertisement or run counter to standards of decency.
- Pictures will be published with your Yahoo! JAPAN ID or nickname as set in the Yahoo! User Profile..
- Submitters grant Yahoo Japan Corporation the rights of copying, public presentation, broadcasting, exhibition, distribution, transfer, rental, translation, adaption and publication free of charge for contents (pictures and captions) he/she submitted for within Japan and overseas following the project's purpose. Moreover, a submitter agrees to that his/her submitted contents will only be used for purpose in line with the project, for non-profit reconstruction assistance or academic research. A submitter will not make use of his personal rights as provided by the copyright law regarding the terms as stated above.
- Any JPEG file smaller than 10 MB can be submitted. Furthermore, picture size has to be larger than 200 pixels in height and width. When using the submission form, login with your Yahoo! JAPAN ID is required. In case of submission by e-mail, a login is not required.
- Apart from these terms regarding submission, please make sure you have confirmed the Yahoo! JAPAN terms of service.
